This is one of those materials that has a lot of different uses. The standard for artist's oils for centuries in one state or another, linseed oil may also be used as a cleaner of paint brushes for those of you who don't want to use a true solvent--a much safer way to clean up. Also used as a penetrating sealer for exterior plaster decorations, and actually holds up pretty well; if it's maintained regularly. Even makes a great wood finish/sealer when used with or without thinner. A multi-talented medium at a great price.
