This is a demonstration/seminar where we discuss all of the various types of mold making and casting materials available these days-meaning everything from latex to silicone on the mold making side and plaster to resins on the casting side. We will make a simple open-faced mold of an object and follow up with a casting from that mold. Discussion is open to individual projects, if time allows, so bring your projects, your notepad and questions! Class size: 16, August 23, 4PM-7PM.
You will learn:
- The fundamentals of mold making and different mold making materials
- Properties and applications of casting materials
- Introduction to essential tools such as mold boxes, release agents, and measuring instruments.
- Preparing prototypes and models for the molding process.
- Troubleshooting common design challenges.
- Finishing Techniques
- How to implement safety protocols in the workshop.
